The next episode in a new documentary series by Epic Games’ Unreal Engine has been launched today looking at how developers build virtual worlds. Sense of Presence: Building Virtual Reality talks to virtual reality (VR) pioneers who are creating the experiences and how game engine technology is such an important part of the whole industry.
The short documentary starts by interviewing Palmer Luckey, the founder of Oculus VR and the man widely attributed to reigniting VR by creating the Oculus Rift back in 2012. Luckey talks about how the videogame industry is: “the only industry with the technology, tools and the talent, to create immersive real-time 3D worlds.” The program then continues with input from, Tony Tamasi, SVP Content & Technology, NVIDIA, Nick Whiting and Nick Donaldson from Epic Games, Ben Grossman, co-founder of Manopus, and more.
The first episode Sense of Presence: What Is Virtual Reality? was launched last week, and explored VR as a new medium for entertainment and human interaction. It can be found on Unreal Engine’s YouTube channel.
VRFocus will be bringing you the latest episodes in the series as they air, and any other VR news as its announced.
