Virtual reality (VR) is going to need its sports titles. The genre has played a key part in proving the worth of new immersive technologies over the past few years, perhaps the best example of which being Wii Sports. Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time developer Sanzaru Games is the team that’s rising to this challenge with the appropriately titled VR Sports Challenge, currently in development for the consumer Oculus Rift head-mounted display (HMD). VRFocus recently got to speak to the studio about the project.
In the interview below Creative Director Tin Guerrero talks about Sanzaru Games’ aims for the upcoming title, which will feature a number of minigame-esque sports scenarios for players to try out. He also touches upon support for the Oculus Touch controllers, which the developer is clearly enthusiastic about implementing.
VRFocus will continue to follow VR Sports Challenge closely, reporting back with the latest updates on the title’s progress.
