In a couple of weeks time EGX, the UK’s largest videogame event will take place at the National Exhibition Centre (NEC) in Birmingham. Part of the event will include the Indie MEGABOOTH, a showcase of 29 playable titles by indie developers. Those titles have now been revealed and include virtual reality (VR) videogame, Pollen by Mindfield Games.
Pollen is set on Saturn’s sixth and largest moon, Titan. Players will find themselves in Research Station M on the moon’s surface, taking the role of a replacement employee for a space mechanic that has disappeared on a Saturnine moon station. You have to explore the facility and unravel the story and fate of the crew that once occupied it. The title takes inspiration from iconic sci-fi movies such as 2001: A Space Odyssey.
The Indie MEGABOOTH started in 2011, in the US to introduce indie videogames to the gaming community and conference goers. It has achieved enormous success since then and 2015 will be the first year it will be coming to the UK.
“This has been a really big year for us and we’re really excited to cap 2015 with our first-ever showcase in the UK”, said Kelly Wallick, founder of Indie MEGABOOTH in a statement. “The UK is already a great hub for indie development and this is an amazing opportunity to bring together talented devs to showcase their games as well as extend our support of the indie dev community to the UK.”
David Lilley, Managing Director of Gamer Events who create the EGX show said: “Having been recognised as a bastion of quality by our American cousins for several years, we’re immensely proud to welcome the Indie MEGABOOTH to UK shores for the first time. Indie gaming is a core part of the EGX experience, and with the support of Indie MEGABOOTH visitors to EGX will be treated to the largest collection of indie games anywhere in the country.”
VRFocus will be at EGX to bring our readers all the latest VR news and announcements.
