Virtual reality (VR) stands to greatly enhance the exploration genre. The added immersion that head-mounted displays (HMDs) such as the Oculus Rift provides will allow players to step foot into strange, fantastical environments. One title that is already exploring this potential is Pollen from Mindfield Games. The studio has already committed to supporting a wide range of HMDs for this experience, including the Oculus Rift, HTC Vive and PlayStation VR. Recently, VRFocus got the chance to talk to CEO Ville Kivistö about that commitment to VR.
In the interview below Kivistö discusses Pollen‘s unique story and setting, taken players to Titan, Saturn’s largest moon. Here they will explore a seemingly abandoned facility that they were initially meant to be working at themselves, uncovering what happened to the crew by inspecting objects, interacting with items and more. He also mentions that broad VR support, and the reasoning behind bringing the videogame to as many HMDs as possible.
VRFocus will continue to follow Pollen closely, reporting back with any further updates on the title’s progress.
