It’s been quite a while since indie developer Offpeak Games has released any major announcements, the last really being its success on Steam’s Greenlight. This week the studio has revealed a new tech demo for its virtual reality (VR) title Valiant. The studio had only supported the Oculus Rift head-mounted display (HMD) up till now, but the new footage is all for the HTC Vive HMD.
In the video (shown below) Offpeak Games show some very early footage of Valiant running on a HTC Vive HMD. The studio mention that the headset arrived very recently and this footage is the developer experimenting with motion controllers for the first time.
As it’s just a simple tech demo the in-game footage is very basic but shows how the studio is progressing. The first example has the player blocking arrows fired from a set of three archers with a shield. This then progresses to arrows falling from the sky without any warning. Then dumb AI enemies are introduced which players can attack with a sword and shield.
At this early stage no further details have been released by Offpeak Games on a possible launch window for the HTC Vive version of Valiant, but VRFocus will be reporting on any further details as they’re announced.
