Virtual reality (VR) don’t always have to be viewed from a first-person perspective, as indie developer VR Bits has shown with Nighttime Terror. Now the studio has teased some footage of the top down shooters sequel, Nighttime Terror 2.
The video demonstrates time manipulation and magic spells which will be present in Nighttime Terror 2. Whereas the original was purely a miniature shooter with players dispatching an assortment of enemies with a variety of weapons, creator Mark Schramm is now looking to add further gameplay mechanics. The footage shows a obvious lean towards motion controllers like the Oculus Touch and the HTC Vive controllers. Interestingly at the end of the video not only is the Oculus Rift supported but the HTC Vive and Project Morpheus head-mounted displays are as well. Players will now be able to fire magic bolts at enemies whilst also destroying scenery. But with the time manipulation everything can be returned to is original form.
While Nighttime Terror 2 is only in an early phase those wishing to play the original can download the Google Cardboard version from VR Bits site for $1.99 USD, the Gear VR version through Oculus Home, and for a very limited time Nighttime Terror is available for free for Oculus Rift DK2 users at NighttimeTerror.com.
VRFocus will continue to follow all the latest updates on Nighttime Terror 2 and report back any further announcements.
