Last week VRFocus reported that UK-based indie developer Coatsink Software was working on a brand new virtual reality (VR) videogame that starred British actor Sean Pertwee. The title itself is yet to be revealed but will be heading to head-mounted displays (HMDs) in the future. Today the studio is adding 2 more acclaimed actors to its cast list including one of the stars of Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz as well as a face familiar to those that watch British TV dramas such as Sherlock and Spooks.
Both Nick Frost and Lara Pulver will be joining Pertwee by adding their voices to the cast list for the new project. Again, it’s unclear what roles either will be playing in the title, nor what the videogame itself is called or will involve. Voice work was an important part of Coatsink Software’s previous VR title, Esper, which involved players sitting in a room being ordered by an often sarcastic announcer to test their telekinetic abilities. In this sense, the experience invoked the Valve classic, Portal, and its iconic hard-to-please AI companion, Glados.
This marks Coatsink Software’s second VR project, with Esper already available on the Gear VR mobile HMD and heading to the Oculus Rift in time for its consumer launch in Q1 2016. The developer will also be heading to the upcoming EGX consumer show in Birmingham, UK at the end of the month to display its work. On top of that, it will also be at the Oculus Connect 2 developer event in Hollywood, California, which is set to take place at the same time and hopefully host the reveal of new details about the Oculus Rift.
VRFocus will continue to follow Coatsink Software’s work in VR, reporting back with the latest updates from the developer.
