Earlier in the week VRFocus shared a new video from HTC that showcased the HTC Vive virtual reality (VR) head-mounted display’s (HMD’s) showing at PAX Prime in Seattle, Washington earlier this year. The video showcased people trying out the anticipated device for the first time, gaging their reactions and well as taking some quotes from developers and the HTC team that’s actually working on the device. Today a new video has launched that leans much more on those developers. That video can now be seen below.
A number of developers are lining up to speak in this clip. They include Northway Games, currently working on Fantastic Contraption, Job Simulator studio Owlchemy Labs, The Gallery: Call of the Starseed developer Cloudhead Games and Final Approach‘s Phaser Lock Interactive. Each of these developer’s projects is shown off as the developers explain their respective title. There’s also a look at other titles such as Tiltbrush. Again, footage is taken from the kit’s recent stop at PAX Prime.
The HTC Vive is currently preparing to have a limited launch at the end of 2015, with a more widespread release then taking place later on in 2016. As detailed in the video, the kit is support by Valve’s SteamVR system. Among other features, this offerings Room Scale user-tracking, which allows players to move around in an environment of up to 15-feet by 15-feet and have those movements replicated in-game. It also boasts position-tracked controllers that give players hand presence within VR.
VRFocus will continue to follow the HTC Vive closely, reporting back with the latest updates on its progress.
