Kudan Launches Augmented Reality Engine

Augmented reality (AR) is becoming a powerful tool in the smartphone market for marketing and interactive experiences. Kudan Ltd, a professional AR company based in the UK and Japan, has announced the launch of its own AR software development kit (SDK) as well as senior executive hires in the US and at the company’s base in Bristol, to aid in its expansion plans.

The Kudan SDK has been designed to offer developers flexibility and features to aid the creation of quality AR based applications, without the need for specialised  knowledge. The SDK is compatible with iOS, Android and Windows powered devices.

Kudan’s founder, Tomo Ohno said in a statement: “Kudan’s AR Engine is a game changer, enabling mobile developers to create innovative AR experiences easily. The new executives come with vast experience from software, media, and development. I believe this will give us holistic view of the industry, and a wider reach.”

Currently the Kudan SDK is free whilst still in developer preview mode, and the company advises developers to launch their apps while the offer is available. Further details and technical specifications can be found here.

Hires for the executive team include: Howard Ogden, as Chief Evangelist, who arrives at Kudan HQ from a 6-year career in mobile AR, during which time he founded Mobilistar.

VRFocus will continue to follow the work of Kudan Ltd and its future projects in the AR field.
