Launched on crowd funding site IndieGoGo this week was a virtual reality (VR) series that will be entirely shot from a first person perspective. Titled Insert Your Name, the series is made up of ten episodes with a stand alone story for each.
Insert Your Name which is looking to raise $25,000 USD over 35 days, is looking to feature a different genre of filmmaking for each of the ten episodes. The episodes will contain different characters so each one is a separate story.
The team behind the project wants the viewer to be the main character which is how they came up with the name, saying on the campaign page: “We chose this title while brainstorming ideas, saying things like “What if you’re a secret agent?” or “How about you’re an alien sent to Earth to blah blah blah?” Because YOU are the main character it would be more like “Michael is a secret agent” or “Sarah is an alien”. Since we don’t know every single person’s name, we’re leaving it up to you to Insert Your Name.”
The project is being created to work on a range of VR head-mounted displays (HMDs) including the Oculus Rift, PlayStation VR, HTC Vive, Google Cardboard, Samsung Gear VR and more.
VRFocus will continue to follow the progress of Insert Your Name and its campaign and report back any further updates.
