360 degree video broadcasting of events is becoming a very popular opportunity. Earlier this year, SoCal VR Con offered a 360 degree recording and just yesterday Samsung announced that their upcoming presentation at IFA 2015, Berlin, would be live-streamed to Gear VR head-mounted displays (HMDs). Today, IM360 have announced a partnership with Immersed Europe to offer those who can’t attend in-person the opportunity to take part remotely.
Hosted by The Immersive Technology Alliance (ITA) and the University of Murcia, Immersed Europe takes place 3rd – 4th September 2015, at the Facultad de Economía y Empresa, Campus de Espinardo in Murcia, Spain. Keynoted by Simon Benson, Director of the Immersive Technology Group for Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studios, Immersed Europe features nearly 30 speakers from all over the world discussing immersive technologies such as virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR).
“We are very excited to participate in Immersed Europe. This is a fantastic way to bring industry experts together as well as giving the general public an opportunity to immerse themselves in future VR technologies. Streaming events like this in 360 and in VR is what sets us apart, it drives engagement and lets the viewers feel like they are right there,” said Myles McGovern, President of IM360.
Immersed Europe will be broadcasting key points from the event including opening remarks, the panel discussion about immersive cinema and the Futurists Panel featuring such names as Sony, Crytek, Epic Games and IM360. The live 360 degree VR experience will be viewable through technologies such as the Oculus Rift and Samsung Gear VR, and can also be seen with traditional players, though without the immersive VR benefits. Access will be made available at the www.immersedeurope.com website for free.
“The public will see The Walking Dead in VR, a memorable Mission Impossible 5 virtual reality experience, augmented-reality Metaverse technology, new ideas and experiences and more… all at Immersed Europe. Come to Murcia and be part of history,” said Neil Schneider, Executive Director of The Immersive Technology Alliance.
The public exhibition will also be live-streamed so viewers can see the excitement as delegates try out experiences by InMediaStudio, Droiders, Starbreeze Studios, Nucleus VR, Chornobyl360, and more.
Immersed Europe offers a single day pass for 4th September 2015, priced at €199 Euros, introduced for those only wishing to attend the Friday sessions and exhibits. Immersed Europe are also offering discounts for VRFocus readers against the full rate of admission that cover both days, using the code ‘VRFOCUSimmersedeurope’.
