HTC Vive Early Prototype Gameplay Footage Released for Nighttime Terror

Virtual reality (VR) title Nighttime Terror has been available to download since earlier this year for the Oculus Rift, Samsungs Gear VR and Google Cardboard head-mounted displays. Up until recently indie developer VR Bits hadn’t released any confirming information on other HMD’s it was considering to support. Now though, the company has revealed some early prototype work for Nighttime Terror with the HTC Vive.

VRFocus previously reported on Nighttime Terror 2 test footage released by VR Bits which had the HTC Vive and PlayStation 4 logos indicating but not confirming support for the HTC and PlayStation VR HMDs. Now at least the HTC Vive support has been confirmed with the latest footage.

Being early prototype footage there isn’t any indication when the title maybe released, but the video does show control methods and interfacing with the videogame. You can input your name, choose between six different levels, five different powerups and see a global leader board from the main menu.

Showcasing several levels, the gameplay footage shows how you use the HTC Vive’s wireless motion controllers as a laser pointer. You point the laser at an enemy to make your character aim, before eliminating them. No reference is made to how the characters main movement is controlled, but this is probably done by the pad on the controller.

VRFocus will be following the progress of Nighttime Terror for the HTC Vive and reporting back any further updates.
