The HTC Vive virtual reality (VR) head-mounted display (HMD) is proving to be a popular device, well before launch. Reaction videos of the general public trying the HMD at the HTC Vive World Tour, and developer interviews are enthusiastic about the Lighthouse Room-Scale tracking and the possibilities the technology possesses. And when the HMD does eventually launch, early adopters will undoubtedly want to show it off to friends and family, which leads to the question of cleanliness. That’s where VR Cover comes in.
The HTC Vive has a foam cover on the unit to ensure comfort for users, but over long periods of use that foam will inevitably become dirty with sweat, dust and more. Which is why Salinya and Jay Uhdinger created VR Cover. They set out to build a proper VR HMD cover that would be quick to put on and take off, easy to wash and comfortable to wear for hours.
The HTC Vive VR Cover features two layers of 100% cotton and a snug fit around the foam of the headset, to improve the comfort. For the $19 USD VR Covers charges, the company provides two covers as well as a carrying pouch.
The company also creates covers for other HMD’s on the market including the Oculus Rift and Samsung Gear VR, which also come in waterproof versions.
VRFocus will continue to report on all the latest VR news as it’s announced.
