To celebrate the worldwide release of the Goosebumps movie next month, moviegoers in the US will be able to jump into a virtual reality (VR) scene from the film. The Goosebumps Virtual Reality Adventure will feature an action packed scene that will use the D-BOX motion chair for an immersive experience.
In the experience, which is inspired by a scene in the film, Jack Black, playing Goosebumps author R.L. Stine, drives through town, trying to escape one of his creations, the Praying Mantis, which has escaped from its manuscript.
Jake Zim, senior vice president, Digital Marketing, said in a statement: “The world of Goosebumps lends itself perfectly to VR, and merging the D-BOX motion chair with virtual reality takes this experience to the next level. You’re going to feel immersed in the movie – it’s a virtual reality adventure ride right there in the theater lobby.”
The Goosebumps Virtual Reality Adventure will be available for four weekends, Saturdays and Sundays between September 26 and October 18, in the following locations: New York, Los Angeles, Dallas, Chicago, Miami, San Jose, Cleveland, Washington, Albuquerque, Toronto and Salt Lake City.
Sony partnered with the creative studio and VFX powerhouse MPC to shoot and produce the VR content for the project, and for further information follow this link. The experience will also be available in select international cities at future dates, when the film is released.
VRFocus will continue to report on all the latest news and updates on VR as they’re announced.
