Cyberith the company behind the Virtualizer, an omni-directional treadmill for virtual reality (VR) head-mounted displays (HMDs), has released a short video on visitors reactions to the device from Gamescom 2015 in August.
The video (shown below) shows the surprise, excitement and amazement that VR technology can create, not only by itself but also when combined with peripherals like the Cyberith Virtualizer for a fully immersive experience.
The Virtualizer began life back in August 2014 as a Kickstarter crowd-funding campaign that managed to raise $361,452 USD for Cyberith. The goal for the device is to give VR users a real sense natural, free flowing movement within a virtual world, whether it being walking, running or strafing in any direction. The ring and harness combination also allows for crouching and jumping, you can even sit down if needed, all while having full 360 degree rotation movement. Cyberith have also insured compatibility with other devices such as Sixense’s STEM system motion controllers.
VRFocus will continue to follow Cyberith and its progress bringing the Virtualizer system to market.
