Blippar Celebrating the Queen in AR

Queen Elizabeth II has become the UK’s longest serving monarch. To help celebrate 63 years on the throne, Blippar the image recognition and augmented reality (AR) app, is bringing all Bank of England banknotes to life with its app.

Download the free Blippar app, and for the next four days you’ll be able to scan (blipp) any Bank of England banknote with your smartphone to unlock videos, image galleries and more to journey through the monarchs long reign. Alongside exclusive content on the Queen, users will also be able to take a ‘selfie’ with her, and find out how royal you are.

Omaid Hiwaizi, President of Global Marketing, Blippar said in a statement: “We’re making celebrating the Queen’s record-breaking 63 years easy and fun for everyone through just ‘blipping’ a banknote. We hope people will be inspired by all the social content, videos and information about the Queen that will be at their fingertips, and we aim to show that, with Blippar, there are no limits to how people can connect to each other and the world around them.”

And this isn’t the first use of the Blippar app, VRFocus reported on the company collaborating with the Rugby World Cup this year, with a similar method being used on the tickets.

VRFocus will continue to follow all the latest news and announcements regarding AR and report back.
