UE4 Environments Showcased in New XING Trailer

It’s been a little while since fans have heard anything from indie developer White Lotus Interactive and its anticipated upcoming virtual reality (VR) adventure title in XING: The Land Beyond. Last month VRFocus confirmed that the title was ‘on target’ to feature that VR support at launch and, further back than that, the team was one of the lucky few to receive direct funding from Epic Games for using its Unreal Engine 4. Now a brand new trailer for XING: The Land Beyond has arrived, and can be seen below.

Dubbed as an ‘environment trailer’, well over 2 minutes of footage of the title features in this video. Much of that time is spent panning through the videogame’s impressive tropical environments. Players will get to explore these for themselves in first-person (and, if they choose, in VR), interacting with objects, leaping from platform to platform and solving puzzles in order to progress. Many of these challenges can be seen later on in the trailer a long with a brief glimpse of a much colder environment than what’s seen earlier.

As seen at the end of the footage, XING: The Land Beyond is on track for release in spring 2016 with full support for the Oculus Rift. It’s yet to be confirmed if the developer will also support the HTC Vive, nor if a port to PlayStation 4 with support for the Project Morpheus HMD is possible. That said, a spring date does put the title’s launch either around of just after the launch of the consumer Oculus Rift itself, so don’t expect this to be the sort of title VR fans will have to play on their second development kits (DK2).

VRFocus will continue to follow XING: The Land Beyond closely, reporting back with any further updates on it.
