Next week is a big one for indie developer Cloudhead Games as it brings the first episode of its new virtual reality (VR) videogame series, The Gallery: Six Elements to PAX Prime in Seattle, Washington. A few days ago the developer revealed a brand new teaser trailer for the that episode, titled The Gallery: Call of the Starseed, hinting at what fans could expect to see on the HTC Vive head-mounted display (HMD) from the event from 27th – 31st August. Now a new poster for the first episode has arrived, which can currently be seen below.
The Gallery: Six Elements casts players as Alex, who journeys to both realistic and fantastical environments in search of his sister, Elsie. It’s likely that the character seen in the middle of the poster below – and earlier promotional material – is Elsie herself, though the two others are yet to be mentioned by the developer. It certainly seems as if the figure to the right could play the role of the antagonist, with his armour bringing several questions. The character on the left appears to be a miner of some sort.
Cloudhead Games is bringing The Gallery: Call of the Starseed to the HTC Vive first before porting it to both the Oculus Rift and Project Morpheus HMDs. The title is set to utilise the developer’s ‘Blink’ locomotion system in which players will be able to transport themselves across the environment while still taking into account the HTC Vive’s Room Scale tracking technology and other systems to ensure comfort. A total of 4 episodes are expected to release overall.
VRFocus will continue to follow The Gallery: Call of the Starseed and all other episode of the series closely, reporting back with the latest updates on it.
