The UK’s biggest videogame expo, EGX, is set to return next month, moving out of London and taking place at the NEC in Birmingham for the first time. The event, which runs from 24th – 27th September, will see a number of virtual reality (VR) titles on display including the likes of Psytec Games’ Crystal Rift. Joining that list today is The Assembly, the upcoming adventure title from UK-based studio, nDreams. In fact, EGX will mark The Assembly‘s first ever public showing, letting attendees get their hands on it for the first time.
The Assembly is on its way to Project Morpheus, HTC Vive and the Oculus Rift, and will be showcased on the latter during the week. This is a first-person experience that tells the story of 2 people investigating the mysterious titular organisation at its underground headquarters. The first is Joel Pearson, who himself has been working within The Assembly for some time. The other is Madeleine Stone, who has just signed up to it. The pair’s paths will eventually intertwine as they explore the complex, searching for answers.
“Over the summer, we’ve been busy enhancing every part of The Assembly, from its story and setting to its gameplay and graphics”, said Patrick O’Luanaigh, CEO of nDreams on the news. “Until now, we’ve only exhibited the game to the press, so we’re thrilled to be giving The Assembly its first major public outing at EGX in Birmingham. We’re really looking forward to seeing what the gaming community make of our adventure in VR!” EGX itself has teased that The Assembly will be just one of a ‘number of revolutionary VR experiences’ at EGX this year.
The Assembly is aiming to be available for the launch of each of its platforms. VRFocus will continue to follow EGX closely, reporting back with the latest updates on the event and titles coming to it.
