Back in February 2015 UK-based indie developer Sigtrap Games announced a brand new 6-degree-of-freedom (6DOF) shooter in the form of Sublevel Zero. The PC title is set to release later this year with full support for the Oculus Rift head-mounted display (HMD). Those attending Gamescom in Cologne, Germany last week may have had a chance to go hands on with the title but, for those that didn’t, another chance to play it will soon be arriving at PAX Prime.
The title will be on display at the Indie Megabooth at PAX Prime from 28th – 31st August 2015 in Seattle, Washington. Specifically, it will feature in the Minibooth area of the show. It’s yet to be confirmed if the title will be display in VR during the event.
Sublevel Zero is a rougelike first-person experience in which players pilot a lone gunship around randomly generated levels set in an underground facility. As they weave through tunnels and caverns players will encounter enemies and gather keys to unlock new paths. Weapons are also randomly generated and gathering upgrades will allow players to combine them to create more powerful tools. The further players progress, the more they will unlock, although dying will send them back to the start with a new map to explore.
The title is inspired by the classic Descent series, which itself is set to make a return with VR support. VRFocus will continue to follow the title closely, reporting back with any further updates on its progress.
