Indie developer Stress Level Zero, which is currently working on Hover Junkers for the HTC Vive head-mounted display (HMD) has released a teasing video of concept videogames for Microsoft’s HoloLens HMD that many fans would be keen to try.
The videos premise begins with a kid sat in the back of a car, looking bored until he puts on his sunglasses and suddenly the world outside turns into a videogame.
Using augmented reality (AR) the team at Stress Level Zero have imagined Traffic Slug, an AR take on the classic Metal Slug franchise where the player shoots their though waves of enemies. Or how about Window Defense where you control a large machine gun mounted on the roof of your car to shoot airborne enemies, even teaming up with players in other cars for some multiplayer action. And then collecting rings, Sonic the Hedgehog style through the traffic your vehicle is in.
If this is just one studios idea of what HoloLens could be used for, and entirely feasable, then hopefully Microsoft will get the developers kit versions out sooner rather than later for developers to experiment with.
VRFocus will continue to report on the latest news and announcements for Microsoft’s HoloLens and Stress Level Zero’s projects.
