Otherworld Interactive is an indie developer that’s committed to the future of virtual reality (VR). This year alone has seen the studio work on 3 different VR titles including the promising social platform, Starport, an educational experience named Share the Science: Climate Change, and its horror sequel, Sisters 2. But the studio has yet more projects to reveal, including a brand new videogame for the HTC Vive head-mounted display (HMD). Recently the developer teased that new title.
Otherworld has posted a teaser image of the HTC Vive title over on Twitter. The image, which can be seen above, doesn’t reveal too much, showing what appears to be some vegetation and possibly a collection of rocks. Fans won’t have to wait too much longer for answers, however, as the developer will be revealing the title at this weekend’s Virtual Reality Los Angeles (VRLA) Summer Expo on 29th August. The message itself simply read: “Mysterious image from our Vive game debuting at VRLA next Saturday!”
It sounds as if this title could be under development for just the HTC Vive right now, then. That could well mean that Otherworld Interactive is looking to support features made possible with co-creator Valve’s SteamVR system. That includes Room Scale user-tracking which players can walk around an area of up to 15 feet by 15 feet and have those movements replicated in-game. The kit also features position-tracked controllers. Release details for the device are expected to be confirmed by HTC itself in October, with launch taking place in time for holiday 2015.
VRFocus will continue to follow Otherworld Interactive’s VR projects, reporting back with the latest updates on them.
