It’s been a big month for PlayStation events, as Sony Computer Entertainment (SCE) has already confirmed the return of its PlayStation Experience fan expo. The show will be taking place towards the end of the year, moving from Las Vegas to San Francisco on 5th – 6th December 2015. Fans will of course be hoping to see another announcement-filled press conference from the event, but there are actually 2 other showings from SCE set to take place before that. The first is Tokyo Game Show (TGS) in Japan next month, and the second is the promised conference from Paris Games Week (PGW). Today, that conference has been dated.
As revealed by Jeux Video, SCE’s PlayStation Media Briefing will be taking place on 27th October 2015 at the Espace Grande Arche from 18:00 GMT+2. As announced earlier in the year, the talk is taking place in lieu of SCE’s usual Gamescom press conference, which did not take place last week. E3’s early June 2015 window and Gamescom’s early August one pushed the 2 events closer together than ever this year, which is likely the reason for this switch up. Microsoft still hosted its own conference in which VR titles such as ARK: Survival Evolved made an appearance.
SCE’s Shuhei Yoshida has already confirmed that new Project Morpheus titles will be revealed at both TGS and PGW this year. While new experiences are always welcomed, many will also be hoping to learn about launch details for the device, which has so far only been confirmed to be launching in the first half of 2016. Will the company use one of these 2 conferences to talk about the release of Project Morpheus or will it perhaps save these details for the PlayStation Experience? With no major SCE conferences scheduled for H1 2016, the company is running out of chances to share its news.
VRFocus will continue to follow Project Morpheus closely, reporting back with any further updates on the HMD.
