Sony Computer Entertainment (SCE) is in full swing showcasing its Project Morpheus virtual reality (VR) head-mounted display (HMD) to both press and public. The latest version of the kit made its debut at the 2015 Game Developers Conference (GDC) in March and has since travelled to the likes of E3, ChinaJoy and, just last week, Gamescom in Germany. It looks as if Project Morpheus is set to return to Germany in the very near future at a number of other events, as well as make its debut in Switzerland.
The device looks set to be on display at both Gamecity and IFA in Germany as well as Suisse Toy in Switzerland in the coming weeks and months. Zoran Roso, Marketing Director at SCE Germany revealed as much in an interview with German magazine, IGM. “Of course we are present with Project Morpheus at all relevant events such as Gamescom, Gamecity, Swiss Toy and probably the IFA,” Roso stated, as translated from Japanese. “Everywhere PlayStation occurs in the future, will also be represented Morpheus.”
Germany’s Gamecity event is yet to be dated, but IFA is set to run from 4th – 9th September 2015 in Berlin, Germany. Suisse Toy takes place in Switzerland’s capital city of Bern from 30th September – 4th October. Elsewhere, Project Morpheus is set to have new titles revealed at both the Tokyo Game Show from 17th – 20th September and Paris Games Week from 28th October – 1st November. There are plenty of chances for the world to see Project Morpheus coming up, then.
Project Morpheus will be releasing to consumers in the first half of 2016. The kit boasts a 1080p OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate capable of ‘reprojecting’ compatible videogames at 120 fps. Pricing for the device is yet to be revealed. VRFocus will continue to follow the kit closely, reporting back with any further updates on its progress.
