Indie developers Ana Ribeiro and Stef Keegan are currently running a Kickstarter crowd-funding campaign for an anticipated virtual reality (VR) videogame known as Pixel Ripped. Originally starting out as Pixel Rift, this unique experience has been a long-time coming, allowing players to step back into the past with the Gear VR mobile head-mounted display (HMD) and, further down the line, the Oculus Rift. VRFocus recently spoke to Ribeiro herself about the project and its ambitions.
In the interview below Ribeiro touches upon what’s changed with Pixel Ripped now that it’s in crowd-funding. The title follows the life of Nicola, a videogame fanatic that has a particular affection fo a fictional series named Pixel Ripped. Each entry in the series, the first being Pixel Ripped 1989, will visit different eras of Nicola’s life as she played different iterations of the series. Here, Riberio explains a bit about the first era and what to expect from others.
Pixel Ripped has just over a week left until the Kickstarter’s closure, and it’s hoping to raise £40,000 GBP within that time. VRFocus will continue to follow the title closely, reporting back with any further updates on it.
