When it comes to educational and environmental apps we’ve seen a few on New To VR down the months, we’ve also seen a number of sponsored apps and campaigns created by government agencies (or similar) which have used both virtual reality (VR) and also augmented reality (AR).
Today we have another app of this kind, though on first look you might think it’s a VR version of Garry’s Mod videogame Prop Hunt. In fact Separa VR isn’t anything of the sort. Instead it is a game promoting the growing need for people to separate out their household waste by type instead of it being collected all together. The videogame, created by the Government of Rosario in Argentina, uses the Oculus Rift DK2 head-mounted display (HMD) to help promote correct waste management, using head movement to select and deposit the waste in the correct container, separating out recyclable and non-recyclable trash.
The more you clean and sort, the more the improvements will be visible to the surrounding area. You can see the game in action in this YouTube video below.
VRFocus will return Friday for one last new VR experience before the weekend, tune in at the usual time to see what it is!
