New Star Trek VR Experience Allows Fans to View Enterprises

One of the most popular sci-fi franchises to see fan projects from the virtual reality (VR) community is of course Star Trek. Over the course of the past few years people have created Oculus Rift head-mounted display (HMD) compatible titles that allow players to explore iconic sets and more. This week has seen an indie developer by the name of kideternal release an updated version of one such title that allows players to inspect the most recognisable ships within the Star Trek universe, the Enterprises.

Enterprises v1.1 lets players view all 8 of the ships from the franchise in VR using the Oculus Rift’s second development kit (DK2). These ships are to scale and players can cycle through them, taking advantage of features such positional tracking to inspect them in greater detail. Improvements to this new version include additional details to certain models, gamepad support and upgrades to the software’s performance. Screenshots of some of the models can be seen below.

The experience can be downloaded for free over on Reddit. VRFocus will continue to follow any and all Star Trek VR projects, reporting back with the latest updates on them.
