The official Gamescom awards are in full swing, and HTC Vive has tweeted a win at the awards today. The HTC Vive virtual reality (VR) head-mounted display (HMD) has won its category of Best Hardware incl Peripheral.
The HTC Vive won Computer Spiele’s Best Hardware award yesterday and now can add an official Gamescom award to its collection. The HMD was up against the new Xbox 360 Elite Wireless Controller and Guitar Hero Live.
The HMD has been doing the rounds over the last few weeks due to its HTC Vive World Tour and garnering a lot of press due visitors to the tour giving positive reviews. The tour started with San Diego Comic-Con and from there has been touring the US in a specially designed truck that is currently in Seattle until tomorrow and will be heading to San Francisco afterwards. While the European leg of the tour doesn’t involve the truck, visitors to Gamescom can still demo the HMD along with the Lighthouse motion-tracking system until Sunday 9th. The European leg will also include the IFA event in Berlin, Germany during September and then move onto Paris Games Week towards the end of October.
VRFocus will continue to follow all the latest news regarding the HTC Vive and report back.
