Elite: Dangerous the virtual reality (VR) compatible space simulation videogame by UK based developer Frontier Developments will be getting a major announcement on Wednesday at the start of the Gamescom event in Cologne, Germany.
Frontier Developments revealed in the #85 newsletter that the major announcement would coincide with the opening of the Gamescom show at 10am CEST. Details are thin on the ground until then but the newsletter does also state that a new trailer will also be available. Could this mean a new platform for the space-sim, new design, new add-ons? Fans of the title will have to wait a couple more days to find out.
With the team at Gamescom there won’t be a newsletter this week, but the developer is planning its most ambitious campaign of events and livestreams to date.
This includes the free gathering entitled Elite Meet Cologne 2015 on the evening of August 5th at a secret location in the German city. The free event for one hundred lucky fans is due to feature food, drink, entertainment (though not what this is, is not specified), a chance to meet members of the team behind the Elite series as well as an intriguing promise of ‘exclusive content’.
VRFocus will be reporting directly from Gamescom, bringing the latest VR news and further updates about Elite: Dangerous.
