With PAX Prime beginning tomorrow, software development studios have been releasing new trailers this week to tease what will be on show at the event. Indie developer Phaser Lock Interactive has now released its first trailer for its virtual reality (VR) air traffic control videogame Final Approach.
Final Approach has been designed solely for VR, and is Phaser Lock Interactive’s take on airport management games, where players navigate a wide variety of aircraft though the hostile sky’s and into the safety of the airport. Then there’s the ability to scale down to airport size to take control of fire hoses to put out flaming planes, air horns to rid the airport of annoying wildlife, and also anti-aircraft guns to bring down would be attackers. Once that’s done, scale back up to carry out search and rescue missions and defend against the occasional UFO attack.
Phaser Lock Interactive will be bringing Final Approach out on both the HTC Vive and eventually the Oculus Rift head-mounted display (HMD). The title will be making use of the Vive’s, Lighthouse room-scale tracking technology to fully immerse players in the videogame. Final Approach will be available at the launch of the HTC Vive which is due towards the end of this year.
The studio will be using HTC Vive HMD’s to demonstrate Final Approach at PAX Prime in Seattle this weekend and VRFocus will be at the event to report all the latest news and announcements.
