Today virtual reality (VR) developer Ghost Machine announced the launch of a free playable demo of the studios newest VR project Endless Dead. The title is available on Oculus Share for the Oculus Rift head-mounted display (HMD).
Endless Dead is a 3D isometric rougelike shooter that the developer describes as ‘half RPG, half Gauntlet clone’. Players find themselves in a small town that becomes overrun with zombies from a nearby research base. Choosing from either single-player or online co-op and survival options, players will travel through the town, eliminating enemies, gathering loot and facing off with bosses. The title features a permadeath system, meaning players will start over from scratch each time that they die.
Ghost Machine has previously released a demo of Endless Dead to eager fans, and this current build may entice more gamers to purchase the title when it launches later this year on Steam. “We could not be more excited to release this demo of Endless Dead to VR gamers around the world.” stated Neal Nellans, CEO of Ghost Machine. “Endless Dead takes isometric dual stick shooters to a new level using a third person perspective in VR. We hope to get feedback from players that try this early demo in VR and it will help us refine the experience for a larger launch of the title later in the year.”
The title will support the Oculus Rift and the upcoming HTC Vive HMD, as well as a being available as a standard version for those not owning a Rift headset. VRFocus will continue to follow the latest updates to Endless Dead and report back.
