UK developer Psytec Games has today launched a new update for their upcoming virtual reality (VR) title, Crystal Rift, currently available via Steam Early Access. This update brings support for the HTC Vive head-mounted display (HMD) in addition to remodelling of the dungeons and enemies you will encounter in the videogame.
This new update sees the dungeons ‘overhauled and reworked’, with the scale options altered to accommodate standing VR experiences, as is of course best with the HTC Vive and it’s roomscale technology. New monster designs, as previously teased by Psytec Games, and artificial intelligence (AI) rulesets have been added in addition to a new weapon – the Crystal Blade – with which to tackle them. This new weapon comes with multiple powers, such as the ability to launch poison bolts and fireballs.
“We continue to listen to our community (which is amazing) and every sprint make changes to Crystal Rift to present our vision in-line with what people want, we are very proud to have introduced monsters, Life Scale and an awesome new Crystal Blade, our vision to be an awesome grid based VR dungeon crawler is on track and we are embracing progress and continuing to push ourselves to make Crystal Rift one of the best experiences in virtual reality,” states the official communication from Psytec Games.
The reveal of the new enemy designs comes alongside the announcement that Psytec Games has expanded, now adding 3D artist Robert Ramsay and Thiago Craveiro, who is working on level design, AI and user experience, to the team. Crystal Rift is available to purchase via Steam Early Access now, with full releases confirmed for Oculus Rift, HTC Vive and Samsung Gear VR. VRFocus will keep you informed of future updates to Crystal Rift.
