Gunfire Games are one of the few studios tied to the consumer launch of the Oculus Rift next year, having revealed their first title for the head-mounted display (HMD), Chronos, at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), Los Angeles, back in June. Alongside the public US debut of the title at PAX Prime, Seattle, this weekend, the developer has revealed new details on the plot of Chronos.
According to Gunfire Games, Chronos is: “An atmospheric RPG that chronicles one young hero’s lifelong quest to save their homeland from a great evil. Central to this quest is an ancient labyrinth, which holds the secrets necessary to restore life and peace to their home. However, the architects of this labyrinth designed it to open only once a year. The labyrinth is a test, and each time the hero fails, they are cast out and must wait one year to return.”
Chronos is an inviting third-person adventure that features some creative design decisions to allow for virtual reality (VR) gameplay to subtly enhance the experience. VRFocus has been hands-on with the title on a number of occasions, which you can read about in our Chronos preview.
Gunfire Games are also responsible for the development of Herobound: Spirit Champions, the second instalment of Oculus VR’s own Herobound series, available now for Gear VR and also coming to Oculus Rift. VRFocus will keep you updated with all the latest from Gunfire Games and other titles coming alongside the consumer version of the Oculus Rift next year.
