Analyst Suggests Samsung Galaxy O Series Could be VR Centred

With Samsung’s recent Unpacked event revealing the Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge+, it was a little disappointing that for virtual reality (VR) fans that no mention of the expected consumer version of the Gear VR appeared. But there are a couple of events like the Oculus Connect2, and IFA in Berlin to come that may still shed some light. In the mean time the online rumour mill has been having its say on some possibilities.

Firstly online site Sammobile has claimed though exclusive information that Samsung is working on two new mobiles, the SM-G550 and SM-G600 which are going to be released under the Galaxy O series moniker. Then gforgames, came across a report from analyst Gene Munster of Piper Jaffray,  claiming that Oculus and Samsung may have collaborated on the release of a new smartphone series the site suggests could be the rumoured ‘Galaxy O’, that may involve the Gear VR device.

Now at the moment all this is purely rumour, Samsung and Oculus VR have said that a consumer version of the Gear VR will be available by the end of this year, and with only four months left that announcement will probably be at the Oculus Connect 2 developer conference after a recent Twitter post by Chief Technology Officer at Oculus VR, John Carmack which VRFocus reported on.

And VRFocus will report on all the announced details from Samsung and Oculus VR regarding the Gear VR when they’re officially announced.
