Open world adventures are one of the most popular genres for videogames and a genre that virtual reality (VR) is sure to embrace as the technology develops. Newly launched on the crowd funding site IndieGoGo is a community-based virtual world called Tower Unite by PixelTail Games.
Tower Unite is designed around online player interaction. Within the videogame players can play multiplayer games of various genres online with friends, customize yourself with clothing and accessories, furnish and design the layout of your personal space (the Condo) with furniture and interactive toys, watch synchronized YouTube videos in a virtual theatre or your Condo and much more.
The Condo is a space that is fully customizable, bottom to top. From the floor plan and the furnishings to the landscaping of the garden, you can tweak it however you like. Watch YouTube videos, listen to music on Soundcloud, or just chat with your friends.
Outside the Condo is the Plaza, which connects players from around the globe using an matchmaking system. The Plaza acts as a gathering point, like a shopping centre containing a casino, an arcade, theatres, stores, attractions, and Game World ports.
PixelTail Games will be working toward full VR integration for Tower Unite by bringing it to Oculus Rift and the HTC Vive head-mounted displays (HMD) first, meaning other HMD’s could get a port in the future.
So far the campaign has raised $13,073 USD out of its $50,000 funding goal with 30 days left to go.
VRFocus will be following the latest updates for Tower Unite as its campaign progresses.
