OnePlus the smartphone manufacturer of the OnePlus has launched the OnePlus 2 using virtual reality (VR) in a world first.
Using 360 degree video technology, the video is presented by Carl Pei, co-founder of OnePlus as he talks about the company’s ideas and methodology behind its smartphone as he tours the headquarters talking to different individuals involved in the creation of the smartphone.
He talks to founder hand CEO Pete Lau, who describes the company’s commitment to the users through discussions on forums to find out what people really want with the new device from specs to features.
The 360 degree VR video can be viewed via a compatible browser and controlled with a mouse or the WASD keys, it can also be viewed on a smartphone with the YouTube app for the 360 degree experience. If you own a Google Cardboard or Samsung Gear VR head-mounted display (HMD) you can view the video through the YouTube app for an immersive experience of the presentation if you wish.
The OnePlus 2 is the company’s flagship smartphone and is pitched against rivals like Apple’s iPhone 6, Samsung’s Galaxy S6 and others. One of the main ways OnePlus is looking at userping its rivals is price, as the smartphone will be retailing from £239, much cheaper than its closest competitors.
