Fans of Robert Kirkman’s The Walking Dead were treated to their first look at the franchise in virtual reality (VR) last month as Overkill’s The Walking Dead was announced for the new StarVR head-mounted display (HMD). A little less than a month on and another new VR experience based on the series has been revealed. 360 degree video company IM360 has announced The Walking Dead Escape, a new panoramic title that’s on display at the 2015 San Diego Comic-Con running 9th – 12th July.
Little is known about The Walking Dead Escape right now, although a teaser site can already be seen. The experience will apparently showcase a real-world zombie escape scenario in which audiences will have to avoid the iconic hordes of shuffling undead and may even end up becoming a zombie too. IM360 has suggested that the content will be viewable through its free app on both the iOS and Android operating systems (OSs), though it doesn’t appear to have yet launched.
It’s not the only VR experience IM360 has on display this week; the company is also behind Conan O’Brien’s Conan360 app as well as the VR promotional experience for Syfy’s The Expanse. Elsewhere, Sony Computer Entertainment (SCE) has brought its Project Morpheus HMD to the event.
VRFocus is at Comic-Con to deliver the latest updates.
