The 2015 USOC Road to Rio Tour Virtual Reality Experience, which lets American sports fans get that little bit closer to the action in the run up to the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro has gone as part of Samsung’s Milk VR content platform.
Produced in partnership between Samsung and Team USA, the experience, revealed earlier in the month, allows users of Samsung’s Gear VR smartphone-based head mounted display (HMD) to see a glimpse of what’s going on behind the scenes with Team USA and find out how their favourite athletes train. It also features several videos specially captured in 360-degrees that give a whole new look at how preparations are underway.
“The whole idea was making sure this action could unfold all around you.” Commented Matt Apfel, Samsung Media Solutions VP of Strategy and Creative Content at the initial announcement. “You would have to turn your head and turn your body to really experience what these different sports are.”
VRFocus will be reporting on any further news about Gear VR and the The 2015 USOC Road to Rio Tour Virtual Reality Experience.
