Real-time strategy (RTS) videogames remain uncommon in the virtual reality (VR) scene despite their easily imaginable potential. Carbon Games showcased a version of their hugely popular AirMech franchise, AirMechVR, on the consumer version of the Oculus Rift at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), Los Angeles, last month and now Four Lights is getting in on the action with the Steam Early Access launch of their upcoming Temporal Shift.
Temporal Shift casts players as an operative for the Brandt Foundation, attempting to prevent the Arkona from destroying history in a war that wages not only across the planet, but throughout time also. Dr. Brandt has been lost to the enemy cause, and so the player has to defend against the enemy in a Tower Defense style of gameplay or venture online with up to 8 players in multiplayer gameplay.
Listed as including ‘VR Support’ on Steam Early Access, few details are currently known about Four Lights’ long term plans for Temporal Shift. Which head-mounted displays the title will be compatible with is not yet known.
Temporal Shift is available as a Steam Early Access title now at a discounted price of £5.94 GBP, with the price rising to £6.99 tomorrow. Four Lights has suggested a September launch for Temporal Shift, and VRFocus will keep you updated with all the latest details on the intended VR support for the title.
