It’s been just under two months since E3 2015 now and the videogame industry is ready to move onto its next big event; Gamescom. Sony Computer Entertainment (SCE) may not be hosting its usual press conference this year, instead opting to hold one later on at Paris Games Week in October, but virtual reality (VR) fans still have plenty to look forward to. Oculus Rift head-mounted display (HMD) creator Oculus VR will be there for starters, showcasing the consumer version of the device. Now, with a week to go until the show’s start, Oculus VR has revealed its line-up.
As revealed in the newly-released Gamescom guide for the Oculus VR app, the company will be bringing both the Oculus Rift and Gear VR mobile HMD to the show with what looks to be a line-up largely similar to what was on offer at E3. On the Oculus Rift side there’s VR poster boy EVE: Valkyrie, Insomniac Games’ third-person adventure, Edge of Nowehre, Gunfire Games’ RPG Chronos, VR RTS AirMech VR, Lucky’s Tale, Herobound: Spirit Champion, VR Sports Challenge, Esper and Damaged Core.
Things are a little slimmer on the Gear VR side. Anshar Wars 2, Bandit Six: Salvo, Herobound: Spirit Champion, Hitman GO, Shironeko and Omega Agent are all heading to the show it would seem. It’s important to note that much of the copy found in the Gamescom schedule is identical to that of the E3 copy, even to the point where the introduction still lists the event as E3. Perhaps this list may include some alterations, then.
Hopefully this isn’t all VR fans will see from Oculus VR at Gamescom; some new announcements on both the software and hardware side would be welcomed. That said, more details on the latter are likely being saved for Oculus Connect 2, the company’s second developer conference that takes place in September 2015.
VRFocus will be at Gamescom to deliver the latest updates on VR software.
