If you are eagerly awaiting any snippet of news relating to the new Star Wars films then you’ll be pleased to know we have something for you today that might help bridge the gap between now and Star Wars: The Force Awakens. As we’ve already discussed at VRFocus, Star Wars is a very rich subject for a virtual reality (VR) experience, so much so ILM are looking into doing something official. This is not that item, but if you have an Oculus Rift DK2 head-mounted display (HMD) then you could get the chance to visit one of the series’ most iconic of locations.
As you might expect from the name, Tattooine takes you to the dusty world that was the birthplace of Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader and home for both Luke Skywalker and Obi Wan Kenobi. Giving you everything from the chance to race a speeder along the desert, check out the sights and sounds of Mos Eisely, have an encounter with Jawas or even a passing look at the Millennium Falcon.
Should you wish to take a chance on this old and dangerous world, you can find Tatooine on the Oculus VR Share platform as a free download.
Join us Friday on VRFocus for another new VR item you can take with you to the weekend.
