Originally released earlier this month via WEARVR, Star Wars ScenePlay has made an appearance on Oculus Share offering the perspective of three characters in a classic scene from Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope. Developed using dSky’s own dSky VR engine, Star Wars ScenePlay is compatible with the second iteration of the Oculus Rift development kit, aka DK2.
Players of Star Wars ScenePlay are invited to take on the role of either Luke Skywalker, Obi Wan Kenobi or Princess Leia in the iconic scene set on the desert planet of Tatooine. Kenobi and Skywalker receive a distress call from Leia and the player is offered a teleprompter inviting them to recite the lines of their chosen character. Furthermore, players who choose to enter the shoes of Skywalker will have the option of using a lightsaber, controlled with either the Razer Hydra or a mouse.
The dSky VR engine allows for multiplayer interactions, though this first taste is limited to just one user. The potential for more scenes from classic motion-picture productions to be added is undeniably high, but for now virtual reality (VR) early adopters can download this first taste via Oculus Share. VRFocus will keep you updated with all the latest additions to the ScenePlay catalogue from dSky.
