Surprisingly for regular readers today’s New To VR item does not focus Oculus VR Share, nor does it feature WEARVR in any way. Instead we are taking a trip to the Google Play store where the latest gaming app from Handy Games, and their very first in virtual reality (VR) has gone live.
Hidden Temple VR puts you in the mould of the classic bold adventuring archaeologist. An Indiana Jones, Lara Croft or a Nathan Drake, who has entered the aforementioned temple on a quest for jewels, gold and the hidden ancient treasures of the people that built it. Not that they have made it easy of course. Puzzles and riddles await any would-be temple raider and you’ll need to successfully complete them unless you want this tomb to become your own.
Hidden Temple VR is presented as a classic point-and-click adventure, with the added benefit of being in 360 degrees. Familiar mechanics such as item acquisition and combination are required in order to progress whilst puzzles require a degree of logical thought.
Whilst compatible with normal Android phones and tablets, the developers Handy Games specifically recommend use of the Google Cardboard smartphone-based head-mounted display (HMD) to get the most out of the experience.
