Last month VRFocus reported on Climax Studios revealing its sequel its very first virtual reality (VR) videogame in the form of the World War 2-themed Bandit Six for the Gear VR mobile head-mounted display (HMD) called Bandit Six Salvo. Now new screenshots have been shown for the VR title.
Bandit Six Salvo puts the player into the very heart of battle. Position gun turrets on the War Room map, then battle it out in first person, swapping between your machine guns, mortars and cannons to blast hordes of enemy bombers, helicopters, landing craft, battleships, tanks, fighters and much more, visiting a number of locations such as the beaches of Normandy, the ruins of Stalingrad and the Pacific.
Climax Studios have been making videogames for 25 years and know a thing or two about developing quality titles. Bandit Six was the studios first foray into VR and CEO Simon Gardner explains how it came about: “At GDC last year, I had a meeting with Oculus and I was expecting to talk about the Rift but they handed me a Gear VR demo kit and let me take it away with me. I knew there and then, we need to be on this from the start as it felt like the future of gaming.”
VRFocus will continue to follow the progress of Bandit Six Salvo before its launch later this year.
