GlesGames: 3rd Strike, a local multiplayer gaming event based in Glasgow, Scotland, just announced that indie developer Team Junkfish will be bringing to the event an Oculus Rift head-mounted display (HMD) with the title Monstrum to try out.
VRFocus previously reported that Monstrum is available on Steam but without support for the Oculus Rift, which was expected to arrive at some point in the future. The recent tweet from GlesGames confirms that the VR version will be on display at the event, although Team Junkfish has displayed this version at past shows.
Monstrum is a first-person experience that places players on a derelict cargo ship. Players must explore that ship, searching for an escape route. As they investigate, however, they will be hunted by one of three types of AI monsters, which they will not be able to fight back against. The title features a permadeath system, meaning that, when players are caught and killed by the given monster, they’ll have to start over from scratch. Levels are also procedurally generated, meaning that players will find themselves in a new ship layout every time they start.
GlesGames is a social event where like-minded gamers can relax and enjoy a whole host of games, such as Mario Kart 8, Super Smash Bros, Mount Your Friends, Street Fighter IV and many more. The event is being held Saturday 11th – Sunday 12th July 2015 at Sloans, Glasgow, and tickets are still currently available.
VRFocus will be following Team Junkfish and Monstrum and reporting on any further announcements.
