Virtual reality (VR) is allowing people to visit both the far flung future and the distant past. When it comes to the latter, many developers are creating experiences that bring players closer than ever to the dinosaurs. But while some titles such as Crytek’s Back to Dinosaur Island series and Jurassic World: Apatosaurus may allow fans to meet dinosaurs, Jurassic Domination: Dinosaur T-Rex allows them to become one. This new VR experience has recently launched a Steam Greenlight campaign, seeking approval to be sold on Valve’s store.
Developed by Atom Power Games, Jurassic Domination: Dinosaur T-Rex is both a first and third-person videogame that casts players as a young T-Rex. It’s up to players to ensure the beast’s survival, hunting prey, using stealth and feasting on others. As the title progresses the T-Rex will grow into a far more powerful predator. Players will be able to level up using an RPG system and explore a large open world environment. A multiplayer mode will feature offering both competitive and co-op play in which players can hunt together.
Atom Power Games hopes to launch the full version of the title in October 2015 on PC, Mac and Linux with full support for the Oculus Rift head-mounted display (HMD). It’s not yet clear if Jurassic Domination: Dinosaur T-Rex could also arrive on other devices such as the HTC Vive and Project Morpheus. VRFocus will continue to follow the title closely, reporting back with any further updates on its progress.
