Fierce Kaiju, the UK based studio behind the popular Gear VR title Viral, has today teased a new announcement coming this week. Hinting that they have something planned for the Oculus Rift head-mounted display (HMD), opposed to it’s mobile cousin, virtual reality (VR) fans will surely be keen to see what the studio has up its sleeve.
At South West Virtual Reality Conference (SWVRC) earlier this year Fierce Kaiju discussed a number of their potential ideas for VR in a unique speaker session. Suggesting that negative experiences – such as walking into a bar and feeling unwelcome – have yet to be explored in VR, and that cultural acceptance is important.
“We think we’re at a point now were we can really improve on a cultural level,” stated Paul Colls, Creative Director at Fierce Kaiju. “We need to make content that not only appeals to a wider audience but is also cultural relevant.”
Whether or not Fierce Kaiju are pursuing either of these ideas is not currently known, however the tweet which revealed the forthcoming announcement did state that it would be made on the first anniversary of the studio’s opening. Of course, VRFocus will keep you updated with any further details from Fierce Kaiju as and when they arrive.
