Summer events season officially kicked off last month with the 2015 Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) in Los Angeles, California. Shows are carrying on across the globe for the next few months, and will arrive in the UK from 24th – 27th September 2015 with the EGX Expo in Birmingham. Plenty of virtual reality (VR) videogames are expected to be on display at the consumer-focused show and today VRFocus can confirm that Psytec Games will be bringing its VR dungeon crawling title, Crystal Rift, to the event.
As fans will know, Psytec Games recently confirmed that its anticipated title will be heading to the HTC Vive head-mounted display (HMD) along with the Oculus Rift version. As such, the developer is hoping to showcase the title running on both HMDs at the show, possibly with two HTC Vives. It’s not clear if the team will be able to showcase some of the new features being added to the title with SteamVR, such as Room Scale tracking, given that they’ll likely have limited space on the show floor to showcase the tech.
Crystal Rift is a first-person dungeon crawling experience in which players move one step at a time on a square-based grid. Along with news of an HTC Vive version, Psytec Games recently confirmed new features for the title such as a sword that will be handled using the kit’s position-tracked controllers. The title also comes with a comprehensive level editor that will allow players to make their own areas and share them online. A taste of that editor and the first act of the title are already available via a Steam Greenlight campaign.
Crystal Rift is also due to arrive on the Gear VR mobile HMD. VRFocus will continue to follow the title closely, reporting back with the latest updates on it.
