Birchbox Man a grooming and lifestyle retailer that offers a monthly subscription of personalised samples, is launching an exclusive virtual reality (VR) initiative this summer in partnership with River Studios.
The retailer is debuting original VR content, an app with which to play it, and custom cardboard viewers specially designed by River Studios for Birchbox Man that will be included in every August box. Four 360-degree video experiences that capture the thrills of driving a racecar, surfing through the barrel of a wave, motor-biking down a dirt road, and flying in a helicopter over a metropolis. The footage was filmed using TriggarVR cameras designed specifically to capture, live-action 360-degree video in high quality and edited with advanced stitching algorithms to produce immersive content.
Brad Lande, General Manager of Birchbox Man & Lifestyle says about the summer initiative: “We’re committed to bringing a sense of discovery and innovation to our customers, so the opportunity to give them access to a brand-new experience through virtual reality is incredibly exciting. By tapping River’s foothold in this emerging technology, we’re able to take our subscribers on quite an adventure with a simple cardboard viewer.”
Once Birchbox Man subscribers receive the special viewer kit in their August box, they can download the app (which is available for iOS and Android) called ‘River VR’ and explore the world of VR.
