2015 Proto Awards Now Accepting Submissions from VR Creators

The 2015 Proto Awards, now in its second year is accepting submissions from now until the 15th July 2015. With all virtual reality (VR) developers and creators being welcome to participate in the submission process for consideration in categories honoring art direction, social experience, gameplay, innovation and more.

The Proto Awards gives virtual reality’s new generation of technologists, filmmakers, artists and enthusiasts an opportunity to submit their latest creations. This year, the Proto Award expands to include independent, educational and student work categories. Student submissions are waived to empower young innovators in the VR space, with the normal submission entry costing $50 per entry.

The awards will be honouring content in 14 categories, which are:

  • Best Graphical User Interface
  • Best Art Direction
  • Best Live Action Experience
  • Best Interaction Design
  • Best Social Experience
  • Best Score
  • Best Sound Design
  • Best Gameplay
  • Best Educational Experience
  • Best Mobile Experience
  • Best Student Experience
  • Best Independent Experience
  • Most Transportive Experience
  • Most Innovative Experience

Being held at the Avalon Hollywood, on Tuesday 22nd September, the Proto Awards are hosted by the Virtual Reality Foundation, a non-profit that was created at the beginning of the emerging medium of virtual reality and Los Angeles’ entertainment industry. The foundation also produces the VRLA Summer Expo, for everything VR related, which takes place on 29th August 2015.
